The Mebane Community Garden was established in 2007 as a conservation initiative of the Mebane Woman’s Club. We rent individual plots on an annual basis to local citizens interested in growing their own fruits and vegetables. While everyone tends their own plot, we share in the maintenance of the garden in general, and communally tend some areas of the garden for the local food pantry. For more information about the garden, please email us at mebane.garden@gmail.com.
Keep it local
One of the easiest things families can do to make environmentally-friendly decisions about their own food is to grow it themselves. Our gardeners grow produce from February through November, often harvesting over 100 pounds of produce annually in a single plot. Gardening is easier on the pocketbook, good for the body and soul, and of course allows families to grown their own healthy fruits and vegetables. There are so many reasons to keep it fresh, keep it healthy... keep it local!
